Ankle Bone Books is a Canadian Owned and Operated Publishing Company established in 2014.
In the spring of 2020, after the first Canadian lockdown, artist Louise Paul was commissioned to design a full back tattoo of a blood tree. Feeling inspired, the artist inked the first tree. She couldn’t put the pen down as it leaped from each page sketching different trees. An expression of 2020, the trees began to speak.
By the end of the year, fourteen sketches were inked, each had evolved with the pandemic, creating the series in a time of Life or Death.
